  • small frieze-band windows,

  • entry pilaster,

The Gothic Revival style is depicted in the house through the:

  • pointed arches,
  • steeply pitched roofs,
  • use of wood in the constructed (Referred to as “Carpenter’s Gothic”),
  • & gingerbread moldings.

The Colonial Revival style of architecture is mirrored by the house’s:

  • chimneys on both sides of its sides,
  • large windows,
  • portico in the middle of the roof,
  • very strict symmetrical arrangements,
  • 1-2 stories,
  • & embellished cornice.

Victorian architecture is viewed in the design of this home trough the:

  • gingerbread molding,
  • high pitched roof,
  • vertical and horizontal siding,
  • use of wood for construction,
  • & wide variety of embellishments.

  • heavy articulated masonry construction,

  • low-pitched roof lines,
  • deeply overhanging eaves,
  • wooden rails around porch,
  • exposed rafters or decorative brackets under eaves,
  • front porch beneath extension of main roof,
  • tapered, square columns supporting roof (most defining characteristic),
  •  & hand-crafted woodwork.

  • ridge pole running parallel to the street,
  • symmetrical front facade (mostly),
  • accented doorway,
  • evenly spaced windows,

Contemporary Style

10 Crestwood

Contemporary styles vary depending on the age. This house probably illustrates Contemporary Style and International Style during its era. Characteristics include:

  • a square or rectangular footprint,
  • a simple cubic “extruded rectangle” form,
  • facade angles of 90 degrees,
  • rectangular windows,
  • & lack of wood or brick siding.

This house holds many Châteauesque Style features such as:

  • french windows and shutters,
  • plain windows adorned with elegant shutters,
  • a very symmetrical look,
  • a tall rectangular chimney,
  • stone/concrete masonry,
  • an entry quite plain, yet ornamented with side columns,
  • & arched windows (side of house).

This Split level house can identified by these characteristics :

  • a front door opening to a landing,
  • a short flight of stairs that leads down,
  • a front door that opens directly into the main living area,
  • integrated garage,
  • floor levels that are staggered,
  • & a main level that is is halfway between the upper and lower floors.

  • radical simplification of form,
  • box-like structures,
  •  rejection of ornaments,
